Having just re turned from Expo 67, he was enroute to Lexington, Va., where he will resume his college work as a junior at Washington and Lee University. Thompson, Saturday, Sept. 2, at 4 pjn. at the Perkinsville BaptistChurch with the Rev. K. Maurice Cooper officiating. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Omer Thompson of New land and the late Mr. Thompson. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. Patsy Julian, organist, and Mr. Bob Barnes, vocalist. Mrs. Bob Barnes directed the wedding and presided at the guest book. The bride wore a floor length gown of alencon lace and carried a lavender orchid surrounded by white tube roses. Mrs. Betty Burleson of Fort Pierce, Fla., served as her sis ter’s Matron of Honor.She wore a street length dresS tif “beige lace and carried a long stemmed yellow chrysanthemum. The mother erf the bride chose for her daughter’s wedding a blue brocade dress with blue ac cessories and a white orchid corsage. The groom’s mother wore a beige suit with beige accessories and wore a white orchid. Mrs. Betty Burleson of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Mrs. Bob Barnes of Charlotte were host esses for a cake cutting given at the fellowship hall of the Per kinsville Baptist Church after the rehearsal on Friday night. A color scheme of yellow and white was used and the wedding cake was decorated with yellow rose feuds. A. announced today that Mrs. A]lie A. Hod gin of Boone has inclusion in the 1967 edition of this national publication. Outstanding Civic Leaders of America is an annual biographi cal compilation of approximate ly 6,000 civic leaders from all parts of the nation. The men and women included were nomi nated earlier this year by local city officials, Chambers of Commerce and civic groups. “They have distinguished themselves in civic work to the point of being outstanding/* said Doug Blankenship, Past U. S. Jaycee President and Chairman of the Board of Advisory Edi tors of Outstanding Civic Lead ers of America. Mayor Jerome P. Cavanagh, President of the United States Conference of Mayors, has said that “The men and women list ed in this book through their abilities and services as civic leaders have earned the grati tude of all citizens . . . they have proved that America is confident of its ability to put aside doubt and take action.’* The publication, Outstanding Civic Leaders of America, was conceived by leaders of the nation’s civic organizations. Its purpose is to nationally recog nize the men and women who give their time for community development and inspire others to greater community service. The book is 7 X 10 inches in size and contains approxi mately 800 pages. It is bound in a wine-colored hard cover with gold embossing.
